A few months ago I received an e-mail from a recruiter at Google asking for an opportunity to talk to me about available development positions. Needless to say, I was pretty excited. I’m fairly happy in my current job, but–it’s GOOGLE. You don’t say no to an interview opportunity at Google.

I’ve just finished an hour and a half on the phone doing two interviews for a software engineer intern position at Google. Those were definitely the most interesting, challenging and enjoyable job interviews I’ve ever done.

As I have already said, I had two interviews with Google. Both of the interviews were conducted over the phone (they called me both times). The first interview was with the recruiter and was mostly about my resume and possibilities of me moving to Dublin, Ireland. There was a small technical test too. The second interview was fully technical and lasted for about 45 minutes.

I had sent my resume to Google a few weeks ago - not because I really wanted to work for Google but rather I was really bored at work and was curious to see if I would get noticed. I guess I did and that was surprising.

I blew the Google Interview not for that reason, but because my algorithm skills simply were not up to snuff at the time

A web-friend of mine just interviewed for a tech lead position at Google. Here’s a (slightly tidied up and anonymized) version of their experiences:

I had a phone interview with Google today. I took notes; some of the questions they asked were interesting. We were allowed to ask questions. The interviewer didn't ask many questions in response to my answers, except to occasionally say "interesting". There's almost certainly more than one answer to each of these, and a few are probably wrong answers or could be improved in some way; I only include my answers for comparison. Any intermediate questions that I asked for clarification or otherwise have been omitted.
